Tell us a little more about you and your career before becoming a librarian or what made you decide to become a librarian.
I decided to become a librarian when I interned at my university’s archive collection and began pursuing the field. Initially, I was exclusively interested in archival and special collections but as I attended the library program and started my first public library position, I realized I was far more interested in working with the public to help patrons access various information and resources.
What’s your favorite thing about being a business librarian and what makes the position unique in Chester County’s business community?
I especially enjoy working with partner organizations to create and advertise resources to our community. In just a few weeks I have been a part of the Chester County Library, I have noticed the strong and established community, both amongst business owners and entrepreneurs and also the various community leaders who offer their time and services to improve the business community.
What is your favorite resource or event?
I am a fan of all things digital, so the ability to access resources such as Libby, Reference Solutions, or Flipster all from the comfort of your home is by far my favorite resource the library offers.
Do you have any fond library memories?
Before working in libraries, I was an avid patron, and my fondest memories were the times I transitioned between collections as my reading level and interests evolved. Watching how libraries’ collections and resources have grown alongside me, especially as I’ve entered the field, has been an amazing experience.
… and finally, what are you currently reading?
I am currently reading the second book in the Silo series by Hugh Howey, Shift, and soon to be moving on to the third.
