Chester County Library Digital Media Lab and Makerspace

 

In 2016, the Chester County Library received a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf, Governor.  With this grant, the Jacobs Technology Center has expanded its services to include a Digital Media Lab and Makerspace (DMLM).

Limited DMLM equipment is available.  Please contact 610-344-4395.

Equipment and software applications include the following:

 

3D Printer
3D ScannerProfessional inkjet photo printer
Thermal laminatorScanNCut machineLarge format flatbed scanner
Adobe Creative suiteButton makers
Digital video converters which you can use to convert your VHS to DVDs
(We can help you to digitize VHS & S-VHS; 33, 45, and 78 records; standard audio
cassette tapes.
STEM Kits and Citizen Science Kits are now available to borrow for any CCL cardholder in good standing.

Make an appointment to come in and get some hands-on learning at the Chester County Library. Our MakerSpace staff and volunteers can help you learn to use our cutting plotters; CNC Mill; Laser Cutter/Engraver; 3D printers; Brailler; Vacuum Thermoform; Digital Microscope; and more.

Henrietta Hankin Branch Makerspace

 

Funded by a generous grant from the Chester County Library Trust, the Hankin Branch opened its Makerspace in September of 2021. We welcome tinkers, crafters, gamers, and anyone interested in learning more about “making” at the library!

Citizen Science Check it Out

Citizen Science

Citizen Science connects scientists and everyday people to help accelerate research and discovery, from astronomy to zoology and Chester County Library now makes it even easier by having 9 different kits available to check out for free with your library card at the Jacobs Technology Center (upstairs on the 2nd floor). These kits have all the equipment you need for various projects such as Exploring Biodiversity, Observing Pollinators, Measuring Light in the Night, Observing Tree Heights and Circumference, and Tree Squirrel Ecology. Four NEW Citizen Science Project kits have been added in 2023 including Mosquito Mapping, ZomBee Hunting, Mushroom Observation (Mycology), e-Butterfly Data Collection, and a Stream Field Study.
