The uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, concerns about safety and challenges from the weather may have you wondering how to have a productive vegetable, herb and fruit garden this year. Liz Alakszay will show you how, with some planning, you can easily grow great vegetables - whether in raised beds, mixed in with the flowers or in containers. Discover how to set up your garden and select the fruits, berries, herbs and vegetables best suited for your family. Soil preparation, composting, seed starting and transplanting will be covered. Learn to grow edible plants using environmentally sustainable methods. Save money on food expenses and promote fitness and health through gardening!

Gardening for over 40 years, Liz is an avid organic gardener, naturalist, engineer, dog lover and educator. The Penn State Extension Chester County Master Gardener Coordinator for over 6 years, before retiring in 2017. She also worked with Longwood Gardens as a continuing education instructor and on-line course designer on vegetable gardening. She holds numerous workshops throughout the SE PA region on horticultural topics including growing vegetables, pollinator gardens and landscaping with native plants.
