Jeanne Clancy

Hi there!  Most of our customers know me as Miss Jeanne.  I’ve served as the Head of Youth Services at the Chester County Library since 1999.  I manage the Youth Services Department, provide consulting to the System Children’s and Teen Librarians, and coordinate county-wide programs like Summer Reading Club, Science in the Summer, and Family Place. Before coming to Chester County, I worked as Children’s Librarian at the Abington Free Library and the Upper Merion Township Library, where Noah and I presented many, many storytimes.

Always a voracious reader, I still own the very first book I read by myself – Little Bear by Else Holmelund Minarek.  I still read as many children’s, teen, and adult books as humanly possible.  My favorite children’s book is Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne, and I love the grown-up books of Alexander McCall Smith, Sandra Dallas, and Louise Penny.  I also read somewhat obsessively about Antarctica, which I hope to visit someday.

I love to read, travel, sing, garden, take pictures, and cross stitch (when my bifocals are working properly).

I received my BA in English Literature from Fordham University and my MSLS from Drexel University, but I have more credits (but no degree) from West Chester University than any other college I have attended!
