New ESL Services Available

As part of an ongoing English literacy effort connected to our recently awarded American Dream Literacy Grant, the Chester County Library will soon feature these new English as a Second Language (ESL) services, free to library patrons.
iPads for ESL Students or Tutors –
Three new iPad Airs are now available to be borrowed and used in-library from the Chester County Library Reference Desk. iPads may be checked out by anyone learning English, with or without the help of a tutor, or by current ESL tutors and teachers. Identification is required to use these devices. No reservation is necessary! But, you may call ahead to book your iPad for a tutoring session. Available apps & features will include: Mango Languages, ‘News for You,’ Duolingo, Oxford English Vocabulary Trainer, Learn English with Busuu, & More!
‘News for You’ In Print & Online –
News for You is a weekly newsletter publication written at a lower reading level with a focus on improved English language comprehension and speaking. The library currently offers free copies available at the Reference Desk on a first come, first served basis. Additionally, we offer free online access at newsforyouonline.com. For access, inquire at the Reference Desk.
Evening Conversation Groups –
The Chester County OIC has long held English Conversation Groups on Wednesday afternoons in the Burke Room of the Library. Beginning May 15th, we now offer twice-monthly evening sessions on the first and third Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 PM in the Reference Department of the Library. Upcoming sessions will be held: June 5th & 19th; July 3rd & 17th; August 7th & 21st; September 4th & 18th.
